| Sumari: | Title screen This work represents the studies the effect of ultrasound (US) power (0, 50, 100, 200 W) applied to the ultrasound-assisted micro-arc oxidation (UMAO) on the microstructure, morphology, chemistry, wettability and electrical properties of the CaP coatings on Ti implants. Increasing the US power from 0 to 100 W applied to the UMAO led to increasing the coating thickness, internal porosity and the percentage of surface fracture, as well as to decreasing the surface porosity. However, the US power above 100 W did not lead to significant changes in the morphology of the UMAO coatings compared to the MAO coatings. The US treatment during the UMAO with different US power values promoted the structural-phase transformation from an X-ray amorphous state to an amorphous-crystalline state with low content of CaHPO4 and β-Ca2P2O7 phases, as well as increased the Ca and P contents, and improved the hydrophilicity. Nevertheless, the minimum power of 50 W ensured formation of the coating with the maximum negative surface charge of –146 mV, the best hydrophilicity, the lowest water and glycerol contact angles of 5.8 and 17.1°, respectively, the highest surface free energy (SFE) of 74.6 mJ/m2, and the highest SFE polar component of 65.0 mJ/m2. The developed negatively charged UMAO coatings with micro-roughness, high porosity of 30 %, and excellent hydrophilicity can potentially improve the effect of the implant surface adhesion with the surrounding tissues due to the combined action of bioelectrical and biomechanical fixation AM_Agreement |
