This study reports on a method for producing lanthanum hexaboride (LaB6) by vacuum-free electric arc synthesis using lanthanum oxide powder (La2O3) and amorphous boron. The obtained experimental and analytical results demonstrate the feasibility of synthesizing cubic lanthanum hexaboride. The recommended arc reactor operating parameters determined for the maximum yield of the desired phase are shown. The resulting synthesis product contains LaB6 crystals, primarily in the micron range, with a distribution maximum of about 100 μm
