To date, the relevance of e-learning is beyond any doubt, the importance of developing e-courses for graduate students is all the more certain due to their great potential for organizing independent work, optimizing the time resource and the possibility of access, regardless of the location of the student. The article analyzes an electronic course developed by teachers of Tomsk Polytechnic University for graduate students of non-linguistic specialties, designed to develop business and academic writing skills. The course is logically divided into two parts, involving the work of graduate students in the first and second academic semesters and representing the tasks necessary for the gradual formation of academic writing skills in a foreign (English) language. The first part includes sections designed to develop business and academic written communication skills that students will undoubtedly need in real research activities, namely, “Abstract writing”, “Research proposal”, “Motivation letter”. Each section consists of reading and writing tasks, as well as multiple choice and comparison exercises aimed at working out the information received in the course. Each section is based on both receptive (reading, listening) and productive (writing) types of speech activity, represented by exercises of both open and closed types. The second part of the electronic course contains six sections reflecting the traditional parts of a scientific article in English - “Introduction”, “Materials and Methods”, “Results”, “Discussion”, “Conclusion” and “References and Acknowledgment”. In its turn, each section consists of two main subsections. These subsections are preceded by a video lecture read by a native speaker. The results of the survey of trainees are presented, reflecting the effectiveness of the course and allowing it to be modified taking into account the opinion of students. The e-course developed by the teachers of Tomsk Polytechnic University was positively received and highly appreciated by graduate students of various technical specialties. The emergence of new opportunities of modern technologies leads to the diversification of methods of working with scientific information, contributing to interdisciplinary integration and the devel- opment of digital communication. At the same time, the use of e-learning courses in the practice of teaching graduate students is justified by the fact that they are suitable for various learning styles, include visual content, are easily accessible and convenient to use from anywhere, have high efficiency and significantly intensify the learning process
