Summary:Title screen
The paper is devoted to the formation of SiC-ceramics from preceramic paper. Preceramic paper is a comparatively novel material consisting of a cellulose matrix and a powder filler. It is flexible and amenable to mechanical processing. This makes it possible to form multi-layer paper composites for sintering, where the composition, shape, and properties of each individual layer can be controlled. SiC-ceramic samples have been obtained by spark plasma sintering of preceramic paper based on a SiC powder (90 wt %) as a feedstock. The surface microphotographs of the obtained SiC-ceramics were analyzed. The values of density, porosity, and water absorption were determined. The phase composition and pore size distribution over the material structure were established. Based on the results, the effect of spark plasma sintering parameters (holding temperature and pressing pressure) in the ranges of 5–100 MPa and 2100–2200°C, respectively, on the structure-phase state formation of the SiC-ceramics was investigated
