Theoretical description of the decays Λb → ΛðÞð1 2 ; 3 2 Þ + J=ψ

We calculate the invariant and helicity amplitudes for the transitions Λb → ΛðÞðJPÞ þ J=ψ, where the ΛðÞðJPÞ are ΛðsudÞ-type ground and excited states with JP quantum numbers JP ¼ 1 2 , 3 2 . The calculations are performed in the framework of a covariant confined quark model previously developed by us. We find that the values of the helicity amplitudes for the Λð1520; 3 2 −Þ and the Λð1890; 3 2 þÞ are suppressed compared with those for the ground state Λð1116; 1 2 þÞ and the excited state Λð1405; 1 2 −Þ. This analysis is important for the identification of the hidden charm pentaquark states Pþ c ð4380Þ and Pþ c ð4450Þ which were discovered in the decay chain Λ0 b → Pþ c ð→ pJ=ψÞ þ K− because the cascade decay chain Λb → Λð3 2 Þð→ pK−Þ þ J=ψ involves the same final state.
