Summary:Title screen
It was found by means of image analysis how non-equilibrium conditions of solidification (contact with air or a mold, without contact) affect the macrostructural parameters of glass-ceramic spinelide-pyroxene materials. It was found that non-equilibrium conditions determine the structural zoning. A mechanism giving rise to the microzoning of structure is formulated: in the crystallization process a spinelide reaches a critical size at which it acquires its own ‘zone of influence’ — a certain volume of melt proportional to the size of the spinelide zone and forming a shell around the spinelide by epitaxial growth.
