This paper deals with adjusting the current controller of a boost DC-DC converter employed within the structure of a load simulator. We use the simulator to perform ground testing for a number of power supplies that involve renewables (solar cells, wind generators, etc.). The simulator generates DC current waveforms of various shapes. The DC current range is within 0...220 A. We use the current of 180 A as the reference value of the load current. The aim of this paper is to investigate a method of optimal controller adjustment for the boost DC-DC converter. We employed the magnitude optimum to fine-tune the controller. A simulation model of the boost converter was built in Matlab Simulink and the designed current controller options were implemented. The modeling results in the form of dynamic current and voltage waveforms were analyzed. The proposed technique of the current controller tuning proved to be valid. The performance indicators meet the requirements applied to the load simulators of power supplies.
