The need to reduce operating costs of commercial uranium hexafluoride production motivates the present study. With this in mind, a variant of coolant flow reduction in the tubing of the desublimation apparatus is proposed. Mathematical calculations showed that the coolant consumption can be reduced by a factor of 2. Field experiments performed at an operating production facility have confirmed the obtained results. A combined control system has been developed to maintain the coolant flow at the minimum level and to secure the conditions of desublimation for uranium hexafluoride. The developed control system will make it possible to reduce by factor of 2 the volume of coolant consumption without loss of product quality or production volume.
