| Summary: | Title screen There is little left unsaid about the applications of ESP, as one of the approaches towards teaching a foreign language for professional purposes, and much is still “behind the curtain” regarding the content and language integrated learning (CLIL) used at tertiary level. The current study considers the prospects and problems of CLIL practices, reports on the authors’ experience of teaching ESP and CLIL at a large public technical university in Russia. We also provide a discussion of the use of corpus software tools for CLIL as a means to customize the language aspects that the learners need to acquire. The study has shown that a staged immersion in vocational context with explicit language instruction is needed and confirmed the efficiency of corpus software for CLIL.
