In recent years, exponential growth has been observed in renewable energy sources, especially solar power, while the total capacity in the world has increased tenfold. In order to predict their work, it's necessary to use an accurate mathematical photovoltaic (PV) cell model and adequately simulate the processes occurring in it. This article considers the partial shading effect on a PV module, using Matlab. Modeling impact of bypass diodes on modules output characteristics is also presented. The results can be used to assess the PV module efficiency and determine the optimal operation mode.
