Summary:Title screen
The performance of an open communication channel is determined by the propagation medium. If the propagation medium is different from the free space (outer space), the structure of the electromagnetic wave is distorted. These distortions are determined by the interaction of the wave with the inhomogeneities of the medium. Atmospheric distortions in the optical range have a different character. Amplitude and spatial effects are observed. Amplitude effects are manifested in the form of temporal changes in the field, leading to a decrease in power, power fluctuations, and frequency filtering of radiation. Spatial effects are manifested in the form of a change in the direction of propagation or distortion of the beam in a direction transverse to the front of the wave. The results of calculating the maximum precipitation intensity for various values of the modal radius of raindrops leading to disruption of the connection are given.
