| Summary: | Title screen In the present paper, the authors report on the application of non-destructive acoustic waves technologies to determine the structural integrity of engineering components. In particular, a finite element (FE) system COSMOS/M is used to investigate propagation characteristics of ultrasonic waves in linear, plane and three-dimensional structures without and with geometric concentrators. In addition, the FE results obtained are compared to the analytical and experimental ones. The study illustrates the efficient use of the FE method to model guided wave propagation problems and demonstrates the FE method's potential to solve problems when an analytical solution is not possible due to "complicated" geometry. |
