The energy density was measured for a pulsed electron beam transmitted through a different number of titanium foils. A pulsed electron beam with a wide range of kinetic energies was generated by the ASTRA-M accelerator (320 kV of accelerating voltage, up to 0.5 kA of beam current, 150 ns of beam pulse duration at FWHM). The sectioned calorimeter was used to capture the energy distribution in the cross section of the beam after a different amount of titanium foils, which cut off electrons with low kinetic energy. It was found that the energy distribution is more uniform for the central cross-sectional area of the beam. The homogeneity of the energy distribution for electrons with maximum and minimum kinetic energy has decreased almost by half at the periphery of the beam. The results obtained are important for the practical application of pulsed electron beams.
