A new algorithm for digital image preprocessing has been proposed and tested, which is based on automated correction of pixel brightness. Algorithm for constructing displacement vector fields has been tested over the images of material under load with a substantial variation of the surface shape. Subsequent analysis has shown significant decrease of the average value of the end point error (as a widely approved benchmark). The efficiency of the proposed algorithm has been estimated and illustrated by implementing of various computational algorithms for optical flow.
