Summary:Title screen
Effect of pulsed electron beam exposure on the surface layer structure and properties of the hydrogenated Zr-1 wt. % Nb alloy was examined by methods of electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction analysis. Irradiation with a pulsed electron beam without surface melting is found to result in formation of grains contained packets of parallel nanosized plates of [alpha] or [alpha] phases in surface layer. Absence of hydrides in the formed surface layer is shown to lead to increase in resistance to hydrogen embrittlement of the hydrogenated Zr-1 wt. % Nb alloy.
