| Summary: | Title screen Continuous scanning electron beam treatment was applied to modify the microstructure and mechanical properties of the Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy parts fabricated by wire-based additive manufacturing technique. Scanning electron microscopy and electron backscatter diffraction reveal the refined microstructure of the melted surface layer of 3D-printed Ti-6Al-4V parts. It was shown that the formation of 20-30 [mu]m size prior b-grains with fine [alpha]- and [beta]-lathes within the melted surface layer drastically increases surface microhardness.
