An approach aimed on wear process simulation based on temperature calculation in a surface layer of a polymer composite material (PCM) taking into account influence of the ambient temperature and its impact on friction and wear process development has been developed. The interaction processes at "PCM-counterbody" interface are simulated through the solution of a contact interaction problem by finite element method (FEM) as well as through the problem of non-stationary thermal conductivity. The temperature at the contact surface is determined from the statement of mechanical energy transformation coming from the rotational motion into the thermal energy of the surface layers of two bodies under friction. In doing so, heat propagation inside the bodies and the heat loss due to convection is taken into account. The wear process is modeled by removal of the failed elements from the calculation mesh.
