Summary:Title screen
The work is devoted to the analysis of the peculiar features of historical consciousness of Tomsk students. It means that the focus of the research is the respondent’s notion to the historical past and the attitude of the individual events and personalities rather than their level of historical knowledge. The analysis is based on data of a public opinion poll conducted in Tomsk Polytechnic University among first year students. These results are discussed in comparison with the data obtained previously. It allows to trace the evolution of the student’s historical consciousness in recent years. The study reveals the personalities and events, about which there is consensus, as well as those about which there are conflicting assessments. Some questions of that poll devoted to the past of the family, forefathers, locality. Thus, the historical consciousness is considered in conjunction with the historical memory. In conclusion, the authors emphasize that, despite the drop in the quality of history education, a steady interest is maintained among the students to the national history, so it is a cause for reflection of this phenomenon.
