| Summary: | Title screen The results of characterization of the microstructure and phase state of the stir zone formed in AA2024 by friction drilling are discussed. Based on scanning and transmission electron microscopy as well as microhardness measurements it was shown that structurally heterogeneous zones are formed where the friction drilling process affects. Microhardness is maximum (1.19 GPa) in the area ~400 µm from the friction drilling hole surface. It is determined by the precipitate dispersity factor.
