A professional activity of specialist of any scientific fields should be carried out on the basis of the principles of environmental management with taking into account of all ecological factors of the natural environment. The paper presents a model of specialist (a graduate of the University), a set of necessary competencies and preparedness level for solving the tasks of specific activity field. It is shown that the developed model of ecological competence formation of students correspond the purpose of ecological education in higher education institution and requirements of professional orientation of future specialists. The article gives results of experimental testing efficiency of realization the competency model for the forming ecological competence of students. The experiment results of effectiveness evaluation of the developed model are presented. The experimental data indicate a positive dynamics of increase of formation level of professional competence of students of technical specialties at the created pedagogical conditions for the formation of ecological competence.
