The paper focuses on the process of engineeringand developing a cartography and information system dealingwith the analysis of hydrochemical data aiming at monitoringconditions of surface water bodies. The problem-solvingprocedure is discussed, with its benefits and weaknesses beinganalyzed. The system under consideration is based on the dataon Siberian Federal District. It uses modern informationtechnologies such as web-access, database management systems(DBMS), service-oriented architecture, asynchronousJavascript technology and XML (Ajax), Leaflet (JavaScriptlibrary for mobile friendly interactive maps), and some others.The developed system appears to be a convenient way toprovide specialists, dealing with the evaluation of potablegroundwater quality, with the data on surface water bodies.
