Summary:Title screen
Investigations of wollastonite biocoatings produced by microarc oxidation method on the Ti and Ti40Nb substrate were presented. There were discovered relationships of coating properties on the microarc oxidation parameters. A variation of the process parameters allowed producing wollastonite–calcium phosphate coatings with a plate-like structure with the thickness of 25–30 ?m, roughness of 2.5–5.0 ?m and enhanced strength properties. The biocoatings on the Ti and Ti40Nb do not exert toxic effect on the morphofunctional status of human prenatal stromal cells in vitro. A high viability and mobility of the cell culture at the coating–cell interface was detected. Furthermore, the wollastonite–calcium phosphate coating on the Ti40Nb alloy promoted osteogenic potential of fibroblast-like adherent cells (by alkaline phosphatase).
