As the drivers of our societal development, universities are currently undergoing permanent changes. University-industry cooperation is seen as an assessment tool to measure efficiency of the university performance. Given the entrepreneurial character of the modern universities in transformation, this article investigates university-industry interaction and draws on systemic model for university-industry indicators assessment on the regional level in Russia. By analyzing recent public initiatives to spur both research in universities and mechanisms for university industry cooperation, authors use quantitative approach to assess university-industry cooperation for 6 public universities in the region of Tomsk, Russia. The limitations of quantitative assessment are argued, since the results of the study demonstrate only several dimensions of university-industry interaction. For multi-faceted analysis of university-industry interaction in depth qualitative expert study is required.
