| Summary: | Title screen Bioclimatic potential of a territory characterize its atmospheric conditions as part of the environment, which is forming vital life parameters for living organisms – possibilities of vegetation and activity of living organisms, including humans. The analysis of spatial and temporal distribution of bioclimatic indicators is a key factor for their forecasting. Such task can be successfully solved with the help of modern GIS (Geographic Information System) modeling technologies. The article describes evaluation methods for major climate-forcing factors and individual meteorological variables, responsible for bioclimatic conditions on the territory of Western Siberia. Organization aspects for the creation of attributive mapping databases are described, the usage of cartographic modeling in bioclimatic studies, also functional features of GIS. Calculations for the following bioclimatic indices are presented: effective temperature, equivalent effective temperature, the Bodman index. Zones of climatic comfort levels in Western Siberia are determined, by each separate index, as well as by the aggregate of all indices, using cartographic modeling. Spatio-temporal analysis of bioclimatic indices variability is presented. A substantial spatial and temporal heterogeneity of bioclimatic conditions in Western Siberia is noted. Conclusion: Local atmospheric circulation activity and its meridional direction play the leading role in the distribution of bioclimatic indices on the studied area.
