Социальная память направлена на достижение ценностно-смыслового консенсуса, память историческая стремится сохранить и передать фактические знания о прошлом. Социальная память и память историческая, имея идентичный объект отражения, отличаются способами фиксации его содержания и формами отражения социального бытия. In the paper the problem of social and historical memory correlation is stated. Historical memory appears as a reflection of a particular “order” for this or that reception of the past. It results in rerecording and revaluating of the historic past where its content is either consciously profaned or sublimated. Social memory appears when the original unity of the society is lost and there is a necessity for building up some other theoretical constructors that can reflect a social existence of a person, group or state.
