The article presents the results of research into heating up of coal and coal-bearing rocks during transportation by motor vehicles. It is proved that heating of coal by exhaust truck gases causes increase in coal chemical reactivity and stimulates self-ignition process. Experiments reveal a growing amount of hazardous gases evolved into the atmosphere as the temperature of coal-bearing rock increases.
