| Summary: | Заглавие с экрана Hyperprolactinemia is a classical side effect of antipsychotic drugs primarily attributed to blockade of dopamine receptors in the pituitary gland. We describe the association between hyperprolactinemia and a set of SNPs from DRD2 and DRD3 receptor genes in a population of 173 patients with a clinical diagnosis of schizophrenia (according to ICD-10:F20) who were treated with classical and/or atypical antipsychotic drugs. Significant associations were established between two polymorphic variants (rs6277, rs2734849) of DRD2 gene and hyperprolactinemia. Subject to further replication, our findings extend the available knowledge on the pharmacogenetics of hyperprolactinemia and neurotransmitter receptors. |
