| Summary: | Заглавие с титульного экрана Negative thermal expansion behavior of zirconium tungstate (ZrW[2]O[8]) allows us to make use of an alternative strengthening mechanism based on thermal expansion mismatch. In the study an effect of ZrW[2]O[8] particles on the structure and mechanical properties of aluminum was investigated. Al-ZrW[2]O[8] metal matrix composites were produced by cold pressing and sintering the mixtures of commercially pure aluminum and zirconium tungstate. Obtained lattice parameters for aluminum were decreasing with increase of ZrW[2]O[8] content, which may be attributed to the presence of internal residual stresses in the material. Uniaxial compressive test and Vickers hardness test showed that the addition of 0.5 wt% of ZrW[2]O[8] leads to an about 25% increase in mechanical properties of the composites compared to pure aluminum. |
