Summary:Vertical distribution patterns of iron, cobalt, and chromium in the peatlands of the central part of Western Siberia were examined. For this purpose, 1100 samples of peat were collected in different layers of 10peatbogs and analyzed by means of neutron activation. Both common and individual features were found in the distribution of these elements in various peatbogs. Distribution patterns of iron and cobalt were found to be similar in many peatlands. The content of chromium varied widely with depth.
