| Summary: | The second volume presents the latest data on the radioecological situation at the Semipalatinsk Test Site (STS), describing the current and predicted environmental situation there. Particular attention is devoted to the radiation status of notionally background areas of STS and to an assessment of their possible use in the national economy of Kazakhstan, and to the state of areas laying adjacent to STS. Information is presented on the prospects of development of STS, including from the standpoint of work on mineral deposits and for the placement of industrial waste. |
