Sumario:The book will be divided up into the following sections: Preliminaries, Fundamentals, Methodology and Algorithms, Development of Hybrid Models, and Applications and Case Studies. The introduction is a concise yet informative introduction to the subject area showing the motivation behind each of the methodologies of Granular Computing along with some historic highlights. Followed by a section where the underlying formalism of interval analysis, fuzzy sets and rough sets is presented. This part covers the material in a fairly parallel fashion meaning that each formalism is discussed independent from each other. This is then followed by a section devoted to the methodology and algorithms, with the objective of demonstrating how these form the design backbone of interval mathematics, fuzzy sets, and rough sets. The next part is about synergy being at the heart of Granular Computing. Finally the application part elaborates on the individual technologies as well as their synergies. The novelty of the topic and the coverage of the material make the handbook unique on the market.
