The article investigates the process of selective extraction of non-organic ions from water solutions by iron-carbon sorbent. Sorption isoterms of Ni2+, Сr2O72–and Н2AsO4–ions were obtained which were well approximated using Langmuir equation. Also equilibrium constants of adsorption process were calculated. Sorption properties of adsorbent, surface charge and active centers quantity on the surface of iron-carbon sorbent were determined. It was established that sorption mechanism depends on charge and value of zetapotential of iron-carbon sorbent and ions to be sorbed. It is shown that iron-carbon sorbent is more effective in comparison to fibrous aluminum oxyhydroxide. As a result the conclusions were made concerning possibility of its application for ions extraction from water solutions
