Summary:This paper deals with the problem of detecting forward obstacles on the road and proposes a solution for safe driving. To detect a vehicle or an obstacle, obtained image frame goes through three main algorithms, such as finding underneath, edge extraction, counting edge. The main result of the paper is the following: (a) the system architecture designed is very simple; (b) the embedded system achieves the required functionality; and (c) the system performance is stable under various environments such as weather, condition of the road. The major contribution of this paper is the improvement in safe driving
