| Summary: | Title screen A novel design of a standing-wave optical trap (SWOT) based on a self-interference retro-reflection photonic nanojet is proposed. A SWOT can be composed from two coaxial microparticles of different geometries, such as sphere, cylinder, ring, truncated cone etc., with one particle attached to a plain mirror and, in fact, represents an open resonant cavity excited by an optical wave. The effect of particle size, working gap, and refractive index on the structure of the optical field is established using the finite-difference time-domain calculations. Numerical simulations demonstrate a substantial optical intensity enhancement in SWOT workspace, almost seven times higher than that of a conventional photonic nanojet trap, due to a triple-focused optical beam, which contributes to improved optical trapping. The depth of potential wells for optical capture of a 50-nm gold nanosphere significantly exceeds the energy of natural thermal fluctuations, which indicates the high stiffness of the trap. The proposed optical trap design uses only a single optical beam, but allows for multi-position particle capturing in the trapping area. Other advantages of the presented design are the relatively simple technical implementation and the possibility of integration with microfluidic technologies for optical manipulation of nanoobjects, e.g. chip-on-flex optical sorting and ordering of nanoobjects, nanoparticle beaming Текстовый файл AM_Agreement |
