| Summary: | Title screen This work presents a semi-automated methodology for determining the energy spectrum of deuteron bunches collectively accelerated to 500–3000 keV in the Luce diode. The diagnostics is based on the activation of a Mylar foil stack via the 12C(d,n)13N reaction, followed by the measurement of radioactivity of the 13N radionuclide with subsequent gamma spectrometry. An iterative algorithm, based on log-normal distribution fit, is used to unfold the energy spectrum from the measured activity profile. Results obtained with a Luce diode operating at 260 kV show that the deuteron spectra are asymmetric: a main Gaussian-shaped peak at 1200–1250 keV contains 80 %–86.5 % of the deuterons, while a higher energy peak, apparently centered at 1900 keV, includes the remaining 13.5 %–20 % of the incident deuterons.
