| Summary: | In the operation of fast nuclear reactors, managing corrosion resistance and the integrity of very thin films is critical for maintaining performance and safety. This review article discusses the importance of these aspects and provides a comprehensive overview of materials, surface treatment techniques, and control methods suitable for fast nuclear reactors. As the findings suggest, the ideal material for coating is silicon carbide (SiC) due to its exceptional corrosion resistance, thermal stability, and radiation tolerance, making it suitable for various reactor conditions. Among surface treatment techniques, physical vapor deposition (PVD) modification stands out as the most advantageous due to its precise control over surface properties and adaptability to different materials. Thermal control methods, such as heat treatment and thermal cycling, are the best approach for managing very thin layers due to their precision and effectiveness in tailoring material properties.
