This paper delves into the problem of robust control of a power supply for a stand-alone remotely operated object, having power equipment onboard. Such objects are extensively used in oil and gas exploration, their production, offshore research and related problem areas. Power equipment generally involves both lighting and electric drives to provide remote operation of manipulators, thrusters and other electric components. Providing stable voltage, delivered to the object via long cables, represents an up-to-date problem for power supply developers. Research efforts, outlined in the present paper, suggest one of possible solution of this problem, namely, involving hybrid robust controller. This controller combines both sliding mode and conventional PI controllers in its structure. Such a solution provides not only stable voltage within the error band of ±1% with respect to a rated value of 600V but also voltage surge mitigation when electric load changes stepwise. The voltage ripple ratio does not exceed 0.5%. Matlab Simulink model of the power supply confirmes the a pplicability of the designed hybrid controler.
