The problem of washing fluid absorption during the construction of upper sections of production and exploration wells in the fields of Eastern Siberia is not new and is one of the main reasons for low rate of commercial drilling speed in the region. In addition, penetration of trouble intervals of wells requires considerable time and material costs. Air drilling is one of the promising solutions to the problem of absorption of washing liquid. The air drilling technique has been known for more than a hundred years, however, a new horizons of its application are opening up by the reason of the compressor’s engineering progress. At the same time, it is necessary to adapt the existing methods of calculating air supply to the new mining and geological conditions for this technology. The paper presents the main results of practical research in air cleaning of bottom hole during the drilling of the surface casing interval in the geological and economic context of Kuyumbinskoye oilfield.
