In the process of drilling, specialists often face the need to strengthen the wellhole when it is necessary to overcome unstable, loose soils and loss circulation. These conditions often slow down drilling, increasing project completion times and thus increasing the cost of the drilling. To stabilize the wellhole, a number of materials are used that, due to their properties, are capable of positively affecting the stability of the soil. Well stabilization polymer is a special type of material consisting of so-called macromolecules - high molecular weight compounds of monomer units. Such compounds have a number of common characteristics: elasticity, low brittleness, high viscosity when dissolved in a small amount, and dissolution through the swelling stage. Depending on the specific composition, the severity of these properties may vary. This review illustrates the various applications of wellbore strengthening and sums up the various filed practices were used for preventing and controlling of loss circulation. This review dedicates the various using of polymeric systems to control loss circulation materials (LCMs). Moreover, the review focuses on the use of nano-materials and the evaluation of use polymer gel are also reviewed.
