This article deals with the paradigmatic relations established by lexical units of the lexical-semantic field "Smart Energy System" in modern English, which is considered to be an essential aspect of the structural and systemic analysis. The paper presents an overview of different views within the field and discusses the term "paradigmatic relations" with regard to the issue of definition, representative types, their origin and categorical signs of mutual correlation. The conclusion is that the paradigmatic relations of lexical units of the lexical-semantic field "Smart Energy System" in the modern English system are characterized by their own hyper-hyponym nature, where synonyms and antonyms form the most stable paradigmatic rows.
