The paper describes the basics and mathematical simulations of photonic analog-to-digital convertor based on processing of modulated bearing continuous optical waves which undergo space-temporal extension. The most important features of operation the device are presented and the possibility to design the layout of its elements either on a shell-based or on a single chip schema is considered. The latter ones are capable to produce the conversion of analog signals into digital forms up to hundreds of GHz. The modulated optical waves undergo the time-space extension induced by both the different optical lengths passed by rays and the phase delay caused by the specific design of the optical system.
