We present here the results of developing a numerical model of therapeutic electron beams from a clinical accelerator, which is required to solve the task of defining the transverse profile of the fields intended for radiotherapy procedures. We describe a model of an electron source with typical main elements of medical accelerators, including a standard applicator used for forming the beam profile. The model was shown to be sufficiently accurate by comparing the calculated data for the electron beam depth dose distribution in water with the results of experiments obtained using a medical accelerator.
