This article presents the dependences of the duration and strength of the current pulse during pulsed arcwelding with preheating of the electrode wire. MIG-welding was applied to build-up samples produced from steel 20 inthe atmosphere of argon with ER 308 LSi wire. Preheater current was 19 and 22 A. The power and the duration of thepulse current were varied. Facing with pre-heating of the electrode wire with 19 A current allows 40% increase of thefusion coefficient of the electrode metal in comparison to the similar conditions without pre-heating. It allows to increasewire feed speed, reduce mixing with the base metal and improve the geometry of the built-up layer.
