Summary:Title screen
Petroleum resins synthesized by ionic polymerization (catalyst – TiCl4-Al(C2H5)2Cl) of different fractionsof liquid pyrolysis products have been modified using peracetic acid prepared as a product of in situreaction between hydrogen peroxide and acetic acid in the presence of sulfuric acid. This modification leads to the introduction of the following polar groups into the resin: carboxyl (acidnumber 3.7-16.8 mg/g) and epoxy (epoxy number 2.9-8.9 %) groups. It has been shown that initialand modified petroleum resins are suitable for the formation of paint and varnish coatings. Modifiedresin coatings have improved elasticity and increased adhesion to metal surfaces and can be used asa part of bitumen-resin compositions
