This review article considers factors that affect the duration and accuracy of isopiestic investigations, analyzes data from published papers, and provides the author’s critical opinion. The interrelation between the mass of the transported water vapor during isothermal distillation and the driving force behind the process for solutions of various concentrations is studied. The significance of the effects of removal of air, agitating in the liquid and gas phases, materials of the isopiestic cups on the duration of the isopiestic process is also analyzed. Attention is paid to the fact that if an initial reagent that contains 0.99 mol fraction main component is used without prior purification, then the accuracy of this isopiestic investigation is questionable even in the second figure of the isopiestic measurement result.
