Despite the fact that the Ring-Opening Metathesis Polymerization has relatively recently appeared in the chemistry of polymers, it has already established itself as a widely used method for producing polymeric materials. Particularly attractive are the processes that result in the formation of linear and cyclic polymers. These polymers have unique performance characteristics. Currently, several processes have been developed and introduced into the petrochemical industry utilizing homogeneous catalysts using the Ring-Opening Metathesis Polymerization principle. For systems subject to metathesis polymerization with ring opening, there are three main factors that determine the microstructure of the polymer: cis / trans, tact and head-to-head configuration, head to tail, or tail to tail. The repeating units in the main polymer chain are in the cis and trans configuration. The distribution of the configuration depends on the type of solvent, monomer, catalyst, and concentration of the reactants.
