The paper deals with an experimental study of the friction process dynamics on bulk ultrafine-grained materials. As the model samples, brass with a coarse-grained and ultrafine-grained (UFG) structure formed by the method of equal-channel angular pressing has been used. In the process of dry sliding friction, the signals of vibration acceleration and acoustic emission were recorded. The analysis of these signals with the use of short time Fourier transforms made it possible to establish the characteristic parameters of the signals obtained during friction of coarsegrained and ultrafine-grained materials.
