The effect of heat treatment on structure and phase composition of austenitic stainless steel AISI 321 has been considered. The structural studies were performed using transmission electron microscopy, and the phase composition has been determined by the X-ray diffraction method. It was established that the use of severe plastic deformation (SPD) allowed reducing the content of [alpha]-phase, while subsequent heat treatment increased it.
