Renewable energy becomes increasingly important in the last decade, due to the limited reserves of fossil fuels and environmental issues related to CO2 emissions. The joint production possibility of electricity and heat in the village Stepanovka, Tomsk region, using a modern cogeneration plant, is investigated in this paper. The analysis was performed based on a comparison of the two alternatives for the area: the use of a diesel power plant or gas-piston units using biofuel. Environmental analysis and calculation of techno-economic indicators for two different systems were carried out to evaluate the projects effectiveness.
