Up-to-date students training of power engineering department implies the quality compliance of their education with the integrated professional education. Students must develop a set of core professional competencies, expressed in the sum of generalized, but varied qualities, skills and knowledge, generic and unique capabilities that allow them to set ambitious aims covering professional and social problems, as well as development and implementation of innovations into their professional field. Consequently, designing and developing educational materials of such a complex and challenging course as “Calculation methods for power systems stability” is a relevant task to ensure the learning effectiveness. An e-learning course has been developed and introduced into the Learning Management System (LMS) Moodle. The content of the course includes laboratory practicals to study steady-state and transient stability of power systems, practical problems and theoretical background. Learning materials can be delivered in any order. Based on a comparative analysis, the authors suggested demonstrative and accurate study methods and tools for steady-state and transient stability of power systems. Moreover, using modern software systems, the authors developed methodological support of laboratory practicals, practical problems, and tests to verify the theoretical knowledge. When designing the e-learning course, the authors relied on the fact that students must clearly understand and intelligently apply the mathematical apparatus, which forms the core of research.
